There are ‘orders’ of accessible relationships with language. I will leave the common orders alone. Like music (or any of the arts of the servants of the muses)… there is an order of intimacy where the language -speaks within you-. You are no longer so much the speaker… you… have become a vehicle. I suspect this was at once more rare and more common in days of old, depending on many things. But this I will say, languages assemble minds in their images, and it is with minds we ‘see’, not with eyes… so when the language begins to speak within you, this is a visionary event par excellence … unless, it is it’s shadow, in which case, and experience rather akin to psychosis seems common.
