I have heard many say that the world does not need rescuing. I find them incoherent. I would be interested in hearing any argument that implies we can retire from attending to the needs of the living world and its myriad relationships, or retire from concern for the other living beings and environment, or retire from concern over matters of monumental ethical, ecological and emotional import. I am still perhaps too ignorant or strident to believe these things, but I am interested. Particularly in the positions that imply these concerns are somehow ‘illusory’, for this I simply refuse to believe, though, again, I would like to hear intelligence refutations.
