Some of them were found in patterns.
In the dust, where they fell. Half clothed.
Frozen in gestures of fear or supplication.
As if revoked from existence by a flaw.

Children had come. Actual kids.
Rearranged the remains. Moved.
The bony husks and rags.
Into the form of forts. Or faces.

One of them made a bird like me.

The sun was angry about the fall.
So it put mirrors in everyone’s teeth.
I am a dinosaur voice, says the mirror.
Even wings are found to contain.

The bones of everyone who was lost.
