I ask for nothing less than a return to the arts of memory and the thriving oral culture they once supported. Before we were hypnotized by writing and technology, we developed our minds (together!), instead of our data-stores; and our capacities of speech and expression, instead of our repertoire of media experiences. To the degree that we place skill and understanding outside us, in abstraction, we are enslaved.
