I love science. The art of no miracles claims that the universe begins with a -literal- miracle, and then pretends it is holier than the religions because it champions -a more sensible story- which is that everything came from nothing (money for nothing and your laws for free) and science discovered this. Right. Hello? That’s religion. Science’s ideas about the origins of the universe are really no more forceful than religion’s, however, having both is better than having either alone, because in the space between them, something a bit more like intelligence is possible. In any case, science is, in many ways, just as religious as religion is, it’s just the ‘lab coat’ version of the same basic urges and needs for metaperspectives.
