“-No- description matches the phenomenon described. Descriptions and phenomenon are entirely different orders of reality. Whatever it is I may do, my description has very little to do with it beyond the way I happen to feel comfortable explaining the phenomenon to myself. However, in human cultures, people defend descriptions of phenomenon, instead of experience, ideas, intelligence, or even living beings. They prefer descriptions, generally. They are safe. Once we know ‘what’ is happening, we can feel ‘in control’. Personally, I do not trust descriptions much. Phenomenon, however, interest me deeply.”
