Long ago, and perhaps still, in cultures that remember the way… we would gather around the one whose day of birth it was. This one became, on this day, like an antenna, who received strange gifts from the sky and forever.

Those who were gathered each discovered in the moments and relations of the day, an astonishing ‘gift’ in the form unique and profound sense of seeing and understanding, which they, in turn, gave back to all assembled.

In this way, a birthday was the reception, sharing, and magnification of otherwise impossible gifts of insight, understanding, love, awareness, deep mutuality, and wonder.
