Your newsfeed conceals a dirty little secret that actually changes the nature of our intelligence, and how we use facebook.
It rewards popularity. Madly.
At the top, there’s a little setting triangle called SORT. This is automatically set to TOP STORIES (i.e. ‘most popular’) every time you return to your feed after an absence.
What this means is, you’re only seeing -what other people like- most of the time. And most of the things -you- want to see are being shuffled to the end of the line or lost in the noise — because they are not wildly popular.
Trust me when I suggest that, in general, you do not want popularity sorting your newsfeed. Let the exceptions remain just those.
If you wouldn’t watch the most popular news or tv channel… set your SORT to MOST RECENT.
And please, share this post and make it a TOP STORY.
