‘It is very difficult to hold a figure that is at once indistinct (that is, implicit) and meaningful in ordinary consciousness. This is actually part of the process of learning, and this aspect is more obvious in childhood.

Three of the methods that catalyze and support this process are metaphors, humor, and … sex. All three of these use unusual methods to cause an indistinct figure (insight or orgasm) to arise in (or as) consciousness. And they hold the figure present for a moment, that we may relate with or, in the case of orgasm, become it.

The experience of this is usually a kind of ‘Aha!’ moment that is associated with insight, laughter, and… orgasm. Each of these experiences actually restructures our minds, our ways of seeing, and our intelligence. They change our relationships with knowledge. This is, in part, why ‘sex’ and ‘knowing’ are apparently so deeply associated in the bible. But so too, humor, and metaphor…”
