There is a natural experience which lifts the mind up beyond the ordinary categories that act as filters for identity. This experience is qualitatively comparative to rebirth at another order of relation with and to identity. From this perspective, all the orders of identity and knowledge are more deeply linked than they are distinct. It is thus sensed ‘from what or who they descend’, and that experience establishes another order of intelligence in those capable of processing and integrating it into their lives and consciousness. Dreaming is the smaller, safer, more common version of a similar experience. Effectively, it is a direct conscious encounter with what I call liquid identity: that flowing superposition from which static identities acquire both their character and their capacity to evaluate (metrics of comparison).
