The nature of the universe invites reverent intimacies such as those that comprise our most heartfelt appeals. That is to say that everything that is … issues such appeals… and everything that is… receives and is remade by them.

Whether or not there is something like what we refer to as ‘god’, there is something vastly more accessible, astonishing, and wondrous. If we will call to it, it will answer. But it will not announce its identity.

And it will not demand our worship. Instead, like a lover, or parent… it will embrace us in intimacies beyond science or religion. And in so doing will authenticate our longing, our hearts, and our deep participation in mysteries beyond what human words or cultures may demand, pretend, or advertise.
