In a way not entirely dissimilar to how humans will pray fervently to a divine power for aid in crisis, animals may also appeal… to humans. Because, let’s face it — around here, we have great power, and our minds exist at an order of complexity which appears much greater than theirs.
There is no other creature capable of the endless things we can do with ease. In most situations, animals and plants cannot rescue other beings — both because this is not their common or effective role — and because they are not equipped for it, physically or cognitively.
We can. And we are equipped. In nearly every possible way.
But most of the humans cannot hear the pleas of the animals… because they do not come along the expected transport: words and noise.
Animals obviously employ sonic signals for various purposes, but not for usually for speaking, and almost never for requesting aid. For speaking they use a mode of silence which can directly transmit information from one mind to another. For requesting aid — a silent mode must be used — because noise will attract predators and opportunists.
During many reports of contact with ‘aliens’, the subjects almost unanimously report a similar form of communication; direct, mind-to-mind transmission. It appears our species has confused noise with meaning.
The animals, and, indeed, all that is divine, have not.
I do not wish the central point to be lost: on Earth, there is usually only a single creature with the broadness of vision, cognitive acquisitions and both physical and manipulative capacity to aid living places, plants and animals in traps or crises: us. Whether or not they emit calls to the sky for help, you can be certain of this, for I hear it daily: the are calling to us.
All of us. And specific individuals who are near to the matters at issue.
Always.
