“Law and force are last-bastion efforts that usually fail to solve a problem. An analogy is that a person insists that a glass be moved. The glass, however, is bonded to the surface it rests upon. As the person becomes more reactive, exerting more and more pressure, the qualities of the glass that respond to these pressures begin to emerge. It shatters, embedding tiny particles of itself in the person’s hand and skin, it spreads little sharp needles, sparkling and invisible, into the air and the surrounding areas where they can injure the person, animals, and others even though the glass itself is no longer present. It is like this. If you believe that you solve problems by creating laws, you are so horribly confused that you will assemble and inhabit your prisons instead of solutions to the often rather simple challenges that you and your cultures are facing in the modern moment. Prisons are a lie, and the cost increases geometrically over time.”
