Scientists and other similarly confused folk often exhibit the dubious expectation that intelligence should look a lot or completely like science. It’s a boldly misguided idea, but one can understand how it arises. The problem is that science was born from and with other forms of thought, speculation and belief. In fact, anyone who acquires the associated skills and methods acquires them with something that is not science. This, by itself, should adequately demonstrate the scope and nature of the matter. Science is an array of methods that comprise a cognitive and relational prosthetic with powerful evaluative and predictive properties. Intelligence is the context in which such prosthetics arise and find meaningful application and development.
