The world of human culture is largely like a grotesque and distorted series of masks, one over the other, each one engineered to cripple, debilitate, and co-opt what lies beneath them. What that is, that which lies beneath, is too profound to reasonably describe. Like kissing, or orgasm, or free-fall; it must be experienced.
Yet we may point in language to what is being hidden, denied, lied about, and generally avoided. It is, in short, the evolutionary body of the being you brought with you into human birth as a child. It is, then, ‘the child secretly evolving in the jaws of a demon’. This child is holy, miraculous, and actually has the desire and capacity to rescue the entire world. From anything. From everything that is wrong and cruel and domineering. From cages.
From the necessity of masks.
The child wants the masks removed, but is aware that every element of human culture will attack, co-opt, rape, and lie about it. In fact, the culture will gladly crucify the child while actually claiming to be ‘protecting’ them.
The culture hunts the child, and the child must hide. More by day.
So the child learns to wear masks. And not just one. And it learned to wear the masks that the function and character of the cultures it is immersed in demand. It wears either the status quo masks, or the rebellion masks. Both think themselves herioc. Both are actually seething lies. But this is not the end of the problem. For, eventually, this becomes such a cruel experience that the child begins to wear masks -to itself-. And this is the beginning of the end of the sacred, the true, and the real. But it is not the end. For we may discover and amend these matters. Now.
One day, we will learn to take each others’ masks off. Altogether. With and for each other and all the living beings and places of our world.
On that day, the Mummer’s Dance ends. No more Halloween.
On that day, we will be born, again, together. That will be our birthday.
