In a way analogous to how our thinking influences our destiny and experience, our cultural media invokes possible futures from the cloud of potentials. And in this sense, our media is catastrophically poisonous, for it invokes nightmares, pestilence, catastrophe, war, conflict, and despair. It is a cruelly disfunctional window of invocation. Any mind that took on its likeness would become paranoid, psychotic, and schizoid.
Thus I suggest that the character of our cultures is significantly invoked by culturally authorized media. Where this media is primarily toxic, we cannot have sustainable, rational, humane or healthy cultures. Any attempt to amend a rampaging culture must include this awareness and skillful strategies for response in its operational mandates.
