There is a form of trance which can only reasonably be understood as something like ‘flowing fire of learning intensity’. This is the form which is our natural state, and we inhabited this state as infants, particularly prior to the onset of language skills. Abstract thinking attacks this, and isolation from nature re-enforces that assault. Psychedelic drugs often mimic this form of trance, but only rarely (if ever) delivering its natural produce which is cognitive and relational prodigy. Recovering the associated capacities is a rare feat, and usually difficult to sustain. But it is our nature, and in nature, we have access to many related assets that will encourage, restore and awaken these capacities. Conversely, in culture these assets will be denied, destroyed, replaced with representations and expensive unhealthy substitutes, and generally inhibited.
