I am struck by the analogy of the replacement of seed crops with toxic corporately developed ‘modified organisms’ with the replacement of the sources of learning and inspiration with meme-like artifacts engineered to produce profit for corporations rather than the cognitive nurturance that we and our children must find ourselves immersed in if we are to develop living minds and relational intelligence. And this analogy does not begin or end in textbooks, but in nearly every form of media we now find ourselves not only drowning in, but competing with… directly… for survival and the resources that potentiate it.
