“Unless faced with a dire and immediate threat, beavers never undertake to complete a project all in one shot. If they’re renovating their home, or building a dam, or replacing their sleeping mats, or taking down a large tree, or gathering their winter food cache, they do it piecemeal. Make a couple runs for this or that, then focus attention on something else, maybe play for awhile too, return to the project sporadically throughout the day, or over a series of weeks, or even a good part of the season. In this manner, massive transformations are successfully accomplished seemingly without effort.” — Ryan HeavyHead
