Before we had ‘human intelligence’… we had… something else… which we employed -to acquire the human intelligence- our cultures ramify and transmit like a deadly contagion.

I suggest that the first way was better, and the thing that we acquired with it — which overwhelmed it — was mostly artifact and parasite.
