It has come, for me, to where paying attention to politics is like conducting firsthand examinations of roadkill. It’s emotionally devastating, it’s disgusting, there are parasites afoot, and all that was recently orderly and majestic has been flattened and mangled into a sort of visual epithet. It sticks out like a tear in reality through which a nightmare is leaking.
