Though we do not detect it, it is as if we speak a polyglot of the remnants of ancient tongues. In each word, a set of histories… a trove of mysteries. Our language is a representational chimaera, self-assembling in the vast torrents of human social time. As for us, we are like children who, not knowing the inventors, inherited the broken progeny of their languages… without the appropriate meaning-keys…
