The NHI that tutors me strongly implied that Earth responds to the approach of even minor NEO objects in a variety of ways including the expression we call Earthquakes, and that, on occasion, a close flyby can trigger severe earthquakes. In 2010, the closest approach of 2010 AG 30 (an NEO that was specifically pointed out to me by the NHI) corresponded precisely with the Haiti earthquake of 2010.
