What it means to be human must emerge primarily from our relationships with other organisms and the intimately nested ecosystems of our local and distributed environments. In fact, the bases of meaning should arise there, rather than in some domineering system of abstract organizational analysis parading around in the guise of reason and objectivity when it is really a sort of virulent, disease-like reductionism.
