A human with a dog (or cat) is, realistically, an entirely different creature from a human without one. Our linguistic classes deceive us, to terrible effect. Symbionts bond in ways that cannot be made clear in English. They evolve transports of sensing and communication that have little to do with anything we are capable of thinking, in part due to the structural limitations (rationales) of our thinking habits.
