Joe has a belief system. He got it from a book. Susan has one too. It comes from a group she belongs to, and some other books. Tommy has one which he cobbled together from films and t.v. and guys he thinks rock. Sandra has got five or six. She thinks she made them up, but they’re piecemeal thefts from random spots and moments. They use these as metrics of identity, value and function.
