A child’s fascination with a leaf as it is taken by the flows in a race along the gutter — or a stick, dancing in the rapids of a stream — is a moment of self-witnessing. Their enthusiasm reflects an inward recognition that what they watch is like our own experience. To be born — is the leaf hitting the water from above. To live — is the dance amongst the streams of flows.
