I think about the suffix -ion in a fantastical way — as representing a transentient agent who crosses gaps carrying — assets such as feelings, information, meaning. Examples are words such as relation, communication, devotion, adoration, demonstration, hesitation, penetration, reception, conception, deception… The ‘t’ is a tree filled with Ion — who is always flying the messenger’s missions.
