War is the ˚wrong metaphor˚ for oil spills (and conflict in general). The way politicians, the news media, corporate spokespeople, and famous others spin this metaphor is deadly. You are not at war when you spill lye into your drinking water. If you douse yourself in gasoline and light a match, that is not war. Apparently stupidity and confusion are virulently, romantically contagious.
