“When we generalize a people, with the word ‘Americans’, what is meant varies according to the purposes that give rise to the generalization. But if we take ‘the worst common denominator’, the vast low fields in the topology, we will find that they are dissociated, puerile, poorly educated, confused, addicted, and trying to defect from awareness. Because awareness is filled with failure and loss.

This situation makes this nation ripe for dictatorship in a variety of ways.

It ‘solves’ all sorts of problems by raising shadows of the superego, concentrating them into a bad god, or a good god. ‘The People’ can then have a displacement moment, where their own fears, hatreds or failures can be concentrated in a single savior/enemy’ figure.

This absolves us of the need to form anything resembling intelligent collectivity or purposive integration. We can then blame or celebrate, as fitting to our helpless orientations… the emergence of a god / demon figure. Our failures can be offloaded onto this figure, as can our ‘dreams’ of ‘success’ or ‘prosperity’.

This has happened in many places around the world over time, but especially wherever the results severe colonization have taken root, in part, because this obliterates communal intelligence, connection and concern. America has been recolonizing itself with war, prisoneering and corporations for decades. Attacks on education, the environment and social programs have left our people polarized between concerns for social well-being, and ‘commercial dominance’.

This makes us ‘desire’ a dictator, secretly, perhaps. A daddy figure who we can either worship or despise. Any psychologist would recognize this instantly.

America wants a dictator. And that desire is the face of the absence of anything resembling coherent mutual concern, communal integrity and awareness… and… actual intelligence.”
