While the practice of monotheism can produce astonishing individuals and insight/wisdom … a much darker and lethal aspect is its propensity to act as a focal fetish for the rage and violence of aspects of what might be called the Id or SuperEgo.

If one imagines that the features we use such language to refer to developed over time, then the emergence of monotheism would coincide with specific developments, in specific cultures, of these features, and their resulting effect on the human relationship with the nonordinary, the divine and the supernatural.

The tyrannical eviction of these aspects of human nature and existence resemble a desperate left-hemisphere-like gambit to kill anything that threatens the dominance and authorization of the rage-god, which we can see echoes of in the popular adulation of figures such as Hitler, Netanyahu Putin and Trump, who become figureheads for the outrage and vengeance-desires of those too poorly educated to understand these processes and what their actual origins and outcomes are.
