In this episode of Depth? : Charge! I have the profound privilege of a long talk with Maria Maragou, perhaps one of the only living Greek Mystagogues. Maria has been studying the Elefsina ( in English, we mispronounce this Eleusinian) Mysteries for decades, and leads aspirants through the process of ceremonial death and resurrection, resulting in ‘awareness of the situation in incarnation’ and ‘liberation from the fear of death’.

This process emerges from the necessity of being liberated from our carnal ‘read: animal-body’ desires, so that these come under the conscious direction of the desires that motivate our spirit or soul aspects. In effect, this is the ‘restoration of the intelligences of Origin’ in our human minds, bodies, relationships and experiences while we live on Earth.

The concept of ‘the resurrection’ that we encounter in Christianity and other ‘afterlife-redemption’ religions, can be intelligently understood as an intentional derivation of traditions whose actual nature involved death and resurrection while yet alive.

Maria and I discuss deep Greek etymology and how it represents a kind of ‘lexicon of insight’, a collection of ‘keys’ that unlock vast domains of trans-symbolic understanding of key spiritual similes, analogies, metaphors and relationships in Greek art, Orphic Hymns, Philosophy and Mathematics.

Maria Maragou has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Manitoba and is a Scholar of Ancient Greek language and ceremonial traditions.
