“See, the problem is this: the people with bad motivations, if they are actually people at all… the people who are mostly dead inside, and are straight-up concerned primarily with gathering wealth and power… at any cost… they know how to group up. To collaborate. To start a corporation.
A dead-inside leviathan that can literally eat the world. That Leviathan in the ancient myths? That’s what the heroes and the gods had to do battle with. Tohu and Bohu and such.
These days, we invent those willy-nilly, and set them about eating each other, history, the future, our children… everything that moves and most of what doesn’t. And those things, they’re dead inside. So they’re endlessly hungry. They cannot be satisfied. Like a malignant growth, their whole motivation is metastasis. Spreading. Like a terrible contagion. Or a disease.
And they advertise their excellence. Facebook. Google. Twitter. Tik Tok. YouTube. They’re fracking us, and the planet, just as if we were the Indians that previously lived in the Americas. And they were the colonists. The Spanish. The British. The French. Anyone who could get in on the smorgasbord of rape and pillaging that filled ships with gold and idiots with bold ideas.
See, the problem is this: the bad people, the dead-inside people, they organize. Effectively. Fast too. But the victims don’t. The Amazon rainforest cannot organize. The oceans cannot organize. The Americans that are being fracked and fleeced don’t organize. The good people, the people who could actually change the course of history, they generally don’t organize unless things go really catastrophically malignant. And sometimes, not even then. Because you can dress up cancer to look like a ballerina. Or a mountain stream. You can advertise SUV’s to ‘go back to nature’ in. Advertising is one of the primal demons that drive the organizing diseases. But there are others.
The problem is this: ‘we’ are not a we at all. And that absence of an active we cannot solve »any problem. And before it can become an actual we, there has to be a way to organize, collaborate, cooperate, communicate, dream, envision, enact, experiment, revise and transform… our collectivity. Which, at present, is mostly missing-in-non-action.”
