We are now in a very peculiar predicament, which is not new to our species, but the scale, scope, and acceleration of of the problem has reached exponential levels that will certainly produce (and invite) catastrophe, if not abject apocalypse.

The problem is this: our species seems hypnotized by the misapprehension that advances in physical technologies will rescue us from the repercussions of previous such advancements. Nuclear power, for example. The gun. The photograph. The combustion engine.

War. Poverty. Greed. Plagues. Hate. Ignorance.

The problem is that presently, solving any problem that faces science… or even mathematics… places new technologies within reach of societies so disoriented and lethal in their motivations… that »any solution provided… turns into new machines. And death.

The fabric of living worlds is delicate; but it will probably turn out that the fabric of timespace is also delicate. In the sense that the sudden explosive propagation of machines… damages not merely »our planet ( and our minds ), but the entire »network of living worlds — something few have been insightful enough to consider.

So we are now in a situation where, someone capable of solving the problems of mathematics, or physics… might realize the deadly consequences of delivering such solutions to the modern world, and, effectively, hide. Because anyone intelligent enough to pursue the great questions… we would hope… might be intelligent enough to hide the answers from the human species.

On purpose.

And if timespace is intelligent, believe me, it will not favor the humans. Though it might, occasionally, select one trustworthy or beautiful enough… to trust with its ‘secrets’.
