It is not activities in space with objects that has fundamental importance; rather it is the transformations of »time-in-relation that are crucial to our original nature, and, particularly, the possibilities of intelligence, awareness, and understading.

Organisms are to time as stars are to light.

Nonhuman intelligences are not looking for signals in space. They are carefully observing transformations in time and organismal diversity (because these two are intimately linked).

We are sending signals to other intelligences all the time. But not, as we imagine, with radio. We are signalling to nearly everything in the universe a fatal error: we kill time and relation… with machines … which are not only ‘dead inside’ but create dead time … by obliterating ecologies and their foundations.

Believe me when I say: they understand this signal as absolutely lethal.
