The assurance of »privacy, it turns out, is absolutely imperative to a variety of nonordinary faculties that disappear under malpurposed observation. Conversely, there are a variety of such faculties and abilities that are enhanced by positive observation.

Any child is aware of this, but by the time they are able to speak in language and concepts… they are already aware of critical and otherwise malpurposed observation.

So they learn to inhibit these faculties, with some few exceptions. Some of them continue to experiment with them… but in private.

We must return the assurance of privacy to the common people. And we must invent contexts of positive observation that evoke the faculties that will otherwise remain hidden, inhibited… or compromised.
