One can posit a variety of forms of ‘frame collapse’, some of relatively positive character — for example ‘love’. But here we see that words devoid of context are profoundly ambiguous. For what do I mean by this word? Or what ‘is meant’ (see the frame collapsing already)?

Our peculiar form of intelligence contains within its scope vast terrains that are not even slightly intelligent. I could argue that, in fact, they are nearly the opposite of — and here I re-introduce the problem of language itself — what »appears to ‘be meant’. This is language, pretending to be a mind, or a being, or more terrifyingly ‘the truth’.

Although there are many forms of what I desire to encompass with this phrase, I often mean something like the problem where the mind collapses into language, narrative or theory.

This is the loss of mind.

What I most often mean is not that the frames we use and are familiar with suddenly liberate us into actual insight, participation, and revelation… but the opposite. Where the frames become so constrictive as to represent something like prisons for thought, awareness… consciousness.

Our modern anti-cultures potentiate, reward, and even demand this. The sudden and/or ongoing loss of degrees of freedom in awareness and relation… is, in fact, the hallmark of the diseases that masquerade as cultures. Language is only partly a gift, and only where we can learn together to stand aside from its myriad precipitous dangers… so as to avail ourselves of the wings that arise when these are known, resisted… and inverted. On purpose. With and for each other and the history and future of Life on Earth (and elsewhere).
