As if humans undergo developmental phases… that are invisible to language and our common ideas. Like insects that molt, but hide this process within us. And I suspect that, in this process, something like the idea that ontology (form) recapitulates phylogeny (evolution over time) is true in the domains of mode and epoch. So that, over time, we each uniquely recapitulate the entire histories of life on Earth and our kind of animal. Uniquely. Throughout our lives, there are these invisible, cthonic processes being diversely re-enacted, local and peculiar to each of us and all of the other beings on Earth.

The old books, the sacred texts, they are ‘time-books’ in this model, in the sense that they refer to the transitions of character and development over time both universally (over time itself) and personally (they model the process of developmental recursion-in-being). They were ‘prophetic’ in a strange sense: being about being-in-time… in Time. Maps, if you will, of the phases… but hidden… in strange language… and the peculiar costumes of these old traditions that, over time… became weaponized.
