The waking mind as we experience it is a very modern development in terms of the Evolution of Consciousness in humans. Its origins and powers lie primarily in the abstract dimensions of linguistic, conceptual and planning activities.

It’s easy for us to suppose, from its perspective, that it’s everything. Who we are becomes confused with thoughts and opinions, concepts and models.

But the waking mind is a thin sheaf of a complexly layered array of evolutionary developments, most of which radically outperform the waking mind. I here explore a variety of perspectives related to differentiating our waking mind and thoughts from who we are, and exploring an idea familiar to me: that our minds are using Psi (telepathy, clairvoyance, etc) all the time. I also examine the perspective that our minds ‘participate’ in, rather than produce… consciousness, awareness, ideas, insight and sensing.
