I reflect on the actual nature of being dependent upon each other the way fingers on a hand are both distinct and at the same time comprise a unity that radically magnifies the opportunities for manipulation due to the diversity of the members. Humans are ‘pod’ animals, and benefit from situations in which they form unions for mutual benefit and noble aspirations.
