Had a great conversation with a new friend (from facebook) today. Our curiosity wandered over a variety of fascinating topics and I learned a lot. But one thing would never have occurred to me:

“Just a thought experiment here, but suppose we had actually managed to elect a Democratic president last election. Can you imagine the outraged rejection by the far right of any suggestion that people curtail their common activities…and… wear masks? Think about it. Thousands of us may have survived precisely »because there’s presently a Republican president in office, and some portion of his fanbase obeyed his too-little/too-late mandates, that they otherwise would have militantly rejected outright in displays of prominent self-righteousness.”

Would never have occurred to me… and the irony of modern life is … far weirder than… hell, put anything you want here.
