Once it is possible to control these factors, which is a trivial matter in modern societies, those in control of the media and its distribution can effectively enslave vast populations of people. They can obliterate the possibilities of their humanity and intelligence… possibly forever.

Those in control can easily determine how and what meanings are made from the information distributed, and this is the key to eliminating the possibility of freedom before it even emerges.

We now live in a situation where it is nearly impossible to form intelligent societies, and myriads of counterfeits vie for dominance and reproductive rights in the resulting vacuum.

And yet, at least for the moment, this situation can still be inverted; we can build systems that insure against this, and grant us the capacity to form, sustain, and benefit from actually intelligent, actively educational societies, roles, and relationships.
