∞ The beauty and nobility of living creatures and places is actually so staggering that I suspect modern humans must, with few exceptions, simply recoil into terrified representational avoidance. The simple fact of any living creature, when experienced and felt is a shocking and almost impossible grace. It is beyond all words, and thus, ‘gives the lie’ not only to all human ideas and stories, but even the most seemingly ‘pure’ religions. In fact, it is unattainable, this grace, by any gambit or paradigm of conception, and thus, the ancient curse our world suffers: to be sacrificed to a god determined to breed lethal fictions in order to avoid any direct encounter with beauty so infinite and deep that it appears unsurvivable. Yet this appearance is not a threat; it is an invitation. If only my people could somehow learn to accept it, instead of compete to destroy it with endless models, representations, death-machines, and diseases of ‘belief’. There is no belief that can approach direct intimacy. There is no representation that has any value whatsoever when compared to even the most modest of organisms or living places. There are no words, and we are not masters, but idiots gone mad in the face of the fact that our fictions are rendered ridiculous by even the slightest comparison to the living world.
