One of the neighbors was walking toward us with his dog, a white shorthaired creature that was obviously really excited about meeting us.
She approached my son first, rubbing up against his legs with apparent joy.
I slipped down onto my haunches, so as to be in her height range as her owner half-embarrassedly admitted:
“She’s got this thing where like every person she meets is her long-lost best friend.”
She wandered over to me, and as I was playing with her, I said:
“That’s funny…now that you mention it, I think my life would be a lot better if that happened all the time.”
He laughed as I continued:
“And you know… maybe… she’s actually right…”
