This should be blatantly obvious; that commensal microbiomes undergo localized evolutionary processes, and thus inform the animal/plant evolutionary processes. Other findings here, however, are more interesting, suggesting that the microbiome may be directly involved in speciation (again, however, this seems relatively obvious).
