Someone posted this Manly P. Hall quote as a reply to my essay on Predators and Electronic distraction yesterday. I want to say something about this quote, and quoting ‘wise, usually now dead’ people on facebook in general.
“When the mob governs, man is ruled by ignorance; When the church governs, he is ruled by superstition; and when the state governs, he is ruled by fear. Before men can live together in harmony and understanding, ignorance must be transmuted into wisdom, superstition into illuminated faith, and fear into love.”
(Hall, Manly P, 1928)
The last part of this ‘popular’ Manly Hall quotation… is bullshit, and simply encourages the ongoing charade that some kind of ‘great change of spirit’ is ‘coming in the wind’. It isn’t, wasn’t, and won’t be.
The only effective response to the abjectly predatory activities of corporations and fake social infrastructure is that we »immediately, and intentionally form collectives capable of intelligently and humanely ‘governing’ ourselves, and the establishment of ‘we’ forms that are not merely nonsensical names for the shadows of our ongoing failure to do precisely this.
Bullshit about ‘transmutation’ actually just pisses me off. It’s a fake cliche that obviates the actual fact of our abject failure to come together, with and for each other and the history and future of life on Earth. There is no bullshit ‘transmutation’ that will help ANYONE and the ongoing nonsensical, helpless, actionless talk about that is, quite frankly, a disease that contributes to, rather than in any way addresses the actual deadly issues of our ongoing failure to form collectives ourselves, now.
In point of fact, this kind of public ‘quoting people who actually made a difference’ is simply »another form of social distraction that advertises to predators that we are, and intend to remain ‘ripe for the picking’.
