Ryan and I had a great conversation this morning revolving around the morning prayer, and the twin aspects of speech (prayer/song) and action. There are some enlightening moments here…

“I am a little bit jaded about this. I hear a lot of aatsimoyihkaan, but I see very little aatsimihka’ssin, and to me, aatsimihka’ssin is the more powerful. Aatsimoyihkaan is significant; it helps. But there’s nothing like aatsimihka’ssin. To me, this is where I first started getting myself in trouble at the college. The Blood Tribe Council, decided to make a deal with the frack-man. And they held and all-night ceremony, which is a very sacred ceremony, from the Sun, and they had the people who were going to frack… they painted their faces. And they used aatsimoyihkaan to (chuckling) … in some ways justify their decision to allow this fracking to go on. Whereas myself, speaking from a place of aatsimihka’ssin, would say ‘No fracking. None. Not allowed. It’s ridiculous, no.’ (Laughter).”
