Now that I have read the article, there is more at play than meets the eye.
Sleep is the ‘death’ of the left hemisphere’s dominance in the brain. The child clings manically to consciousness, in part for this reason… the song is actually invoking the death of the left hemisphere-dominant paradigm… and the aspects all make perfect sense in this view: even in dreaming, the ‘crossover’ is often associated with accident or death. Moreover, the left-hemispheric aspect of mind ‘views itself as utterly alone’ in its most extreme or stimulated states.
From the view that the song is to lull the churning forces of the LHD framework into surrender… supports most of the otherwise bizarre observations in the essay.
