The opposite of extreme conservatism … is often just as absurd. Both extremes tend into fiction, and the ‘reframing’ of past situations as justification for present analysis, declaration or action.
This is a perennial problem in all human culture, and nearly all aspects of what we rather casually call ‘activism’; which is, in our time, too often a rhetorically articulate verbal pastime of certain clades in the intelligencia.
