“Don’t worry. The universe has it all taken care of.”
Well, around here, we are ‘the universe’ in that sentence. So if we have gone insane, taken fantasies for divine edicts, departed reality, nature, the Sun, the water, the entire web of life and dwell in little boxes where we make lethal proclamations… the universe isn’t going to ‘take care of that’.
We either take care as and for each other and the possibility of intelligence, life on Earth, and its history and future, or ‘the universe’ goes insane, just like us. Just like people who think platitudes can stand in the place of communion, personal and communal intimacy and agency, divinity, intelligence, wisdom or ‘culture’.
We are the universe. What we are not doing and a most of what we do ‘is the problem’ and it’s the »only problem. This doesn’t ‘get taken care of’ by invisible forces, and it gets worsened by faux-sage proclamations that seem to relieve us of both the necessities of personal responsibility and the promises of personal agency at the same time.
